These standards serve the purpose to establish the rules that govern who can publish content, and what content can be published on Barrington Town News’ Social Media Pages. These Social Media Pages currently include accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Who Can Publish?

  • Only Barrington Town News staff, or persons that have received permission to publish specific content that meets Our Content Guidelines, in addition to these rules, can publish content on the main Barrington Town News Social Media Pages.
  • Any member of the “Barrington Town News – Journalist Corner” Group on Facebook can publish content in that group channel page.

What Can Be Published on Main Barrington Town News Social Media Pages

  • News Articles that are automatically published within a few minutes of when they are posted on the Barrington Town News website located at https://www.barringtontownnews.com/.
  • Promotional Articles that will be automatically published on a regular schedule, with Evergreen content located at https://www.barringtontownnews.com/index.php/promotions. This may include articles that explain how to support Barrington Town News, as we rely entirely on the advertising revenue from local or regional businesses, organizations, or other entities or individuals.
  • Shared Social Media Posts from Community Organizations that are either not political in nature, or there must be content representing all active political parties from Barrington, NH. This includes non-profit organizations, such as those associated with the University of New Hampshire, the Greater Barrington Chamber of Commerce, and others.
  • Shared or Original Social Media Posts from Community Businesses, that are either paid promotions which the company has paid for, or that a staffer from Barrington Town News has decided to share at no cost to the company. Note that the current fee for sharing or authoring original social media posts for community businesses is $30.00 per post. The post can be repeated for an additional $5.00, up to ten times. The frequency for reposting the same content can be no sooner than 6 hours from the last post.
  • Announcements that pertain to Barrington Town News or any of its systems, such as website maintenance, or security announcements, or any other types of system announcements. These announcements may include information pertaining to new features that have been added or removed from the website, or a new website, or any other changes to the website or the business.
  • Shared Social Media Posts from Elected Officials and/or Political Candidates, that are either paid promotions which the elected official and/or political candidate has paid for, or that a staffer from Barrington Town News has decided to share at no cost to the elected official and/or political candidate because the content benefits the knowledge of residents of Barrington, NH. Note that the current fee for sharing social media posts for elected officials and/or political candidates is $30.00 per post. The post can be repeated for an additional $10.00, up to five times. The frequency for reposting the same content can be no sooner than 6 hours from the last post.
  • Public Service Announcements (PSAs) for any purpose, from any organization or person, if the PSA pertains to Barrington, NH in some way. These types of announcements would usually include weather related announcements, upcoming election day announcements, emergency announcements, and/or any type of announcement from the Town of Barrington, from any department.
