DURHAM, N.H.—The Carsey School of Public Policy at the University of New Hampshire has released the latest edition of What is New Hampshire?, a reimagined resource for information about the state’s economy, demographics, budgets and more. Carsey agreed to add the popular publication to its body of work after the New Hampshire Center for Public Policy Studies ceased operations, taking the opportunity to revisit what was an annual print publication and transform it into an expanded and continuously updated interactive website.

“What is New Hampshire? has long been a valued resource and we believe this dynamic new version builds on the excellent earlier editions to be highly relevant, useful and timely,” said Michael Ettlinger, founding director of the Carsey School.

Ettlinger noted that moving it largely online allowed for interactive graphics that give users the opportunity to do deep dives into the data and visualize in different ways. In addition, there is no single date of publication. During 2019 and 2020 sections will be added as they are completed. Sections will be updated as new data are available.

The goal of What is New Hampshire? is to provide a clear picture of where New Hampshire has been, where it is today, and where it might be heading in the future by presenting objective data, charts, and graphs on issues ranging from the state economy and its demographics to how it funds its public services. It is a tool widely used and valued by state policymakers, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, businesses, the media and the general public throughout the state.
